About Terajoule

We build tools for planning complex energy systems.

Terajoule combines energy modelling, capacity planning and AI engineering. We use them together because the planning question usually crosses more than one part of the system.

Our mission

Improve how energy systems are planned.

Terajoule designs rigorous multi-carrier, multi-sector and multi-node models that reveal how energy systems can evolve to 2050 and beyond. We work across investment needs, adequacy, flexibility, cross-border flows and the interactions between electricity, hydrogen, methane and synthetic fuels.

Our work covers existing energy systems and new environments where generation, storage and demand have to operate under different physical and logistical constraints. We use the models to answer practical planning questions and explain the conditions behind each result.

Our assistants support model checks, scenario updates, analysis and reporting. A modeller reviews changes and results before they are used.
